oprano Emalie Savoy is a graduate student at The
Juilliard School where she studies voice with Marlena Malas. Opera credits
include Erste Dame in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte; Flora in Verdi’s
La Traviata; Susan B. Anthony in Thomson’s The Mother of Us All;
Giulietta in Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann; Clorinda in
Monteverdi’s Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda; and the title
role of Doriclea in the Juilliard Opera Workshop’s North American premiere
of Cavalli’s La Doriclea. Adept not only on the operatic stage, Ms.
Savoy feels equally at home in concert and recital; she made her Alice Tully
Hall debut in April of 2007 with a performance of the
Dvořák Gypsy Songs on ATH’s “Wednesdays at
One” concert series. In addition to operatic and recital performances, Ms.
Savoy has also participated in master classes with Stephanie Blythe, Sir
Andrew Davis, Peter Kazaras, Craig Rutenberg, Edith Wiens, and Kamal Kahn.
In January of 2008 Ms. Savoy appeared with the Southwest Florida Symphony
where she performed as the Countess in scenes from Mozart’s Le nozze di
Figaro. Upcoming engagements include: in January 2009, the role of Norah
in the U.S. modern premiere of William Shield’s colonial-era opera The
Poor Soldier. The production will be with The New Old American Company
in Albany, NY under the auspices of the Musicians of Ma’alwyck. Following
The Poor Soldier, Ms. Savoy will return to New York City in February
2009 to perform the role of the Countess in The Juilliard Opera Theater’s
production of Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro. |
